And Hello France!

Today I checked my mails and.... whoop what was that? A mail from Emily =)
So she decided to fly back to Europe after her trip to South Africa, which she enjoyed that much!

Here comes the mail:

Hi There,

Surprise! As your blog said, you are right, Emily is on a yacht! Here is her story with corresponding photos.

After having a bit of fun in South Africa with a professional poker player and musician, Emily found her way back to the airport for a new adventure.

There was a lot of luggage on the trolley but Emily found a comfy spot in the corner.

After a long flight from South Africa and a stop over in Dubai, Emily got to ride on a conveyer Belt, all on her own.She is growing up so fast. Another short ride to Nice and nearly there!

One more little car ride and Emily found herself in the South of France, in a little town called Anitbes, on the Cote D'Azur. She spent about 10 days there with her new travel buddy, a Chef from South Africa looking for work on the superyachts. First though, Emily wanted to do a bit of site seeing. She decided that Monaco was definately something she wanted to see, so off she went on the train for a 40 minutes and Voila, there she was, in Monaco. Ok, so she had just a little bit of wine to celebrate her adventures.

Being a little duck, Emily was lucky enough to be carried up to a view point to see all the big yachts that she might, one day soon, find herself on.
No, Emily.....that's a Submarine!

After the site seeing and a little bit of work, the Chef took Emily to her new home, a 27m Motor Yacht. For the first 2 weeks all Emily could think about was swimming in the beautiful Meditteranean Ocean. Her dream came true when the yacht was moved from Port Fontvielle to Ville Franche for the day.

Emily jumped into the water and had a lovely little swim next to her new home.

She looked around her and took in the majestic old castles and beauty that surrounded her.Emily is a very lucky little travelling duck.

The Chef might just hold onto her for a teeny bit longer as there might be somewhere very exciting for Emily to travel to...............

I just had a chat with Emily's last fellow....aaaand he said that he couldn't tell me more but that she's on a yacht and feels well.

So hopefully we will have some new picture here soon ;)

and here comes the mail:

Here are Emily's two final pictures from Cape Town, or more specifically a place called Kalk Bay. Here's the story.

Emily was tucked away neatly into my camera bag, in between the film camera my Dad gave me and my antique bronze tripod made in Germany. We were set on an adventure for fish and chips with some friends, our destination - Kalk Bay. We raced off to catch the 12:23 train from Cape Town central, but alas we were too late. So we jumped in the car and followed the train to the next station where we only just managed to catch it in time. The people in the carriage were beautiful, but nothing could compare to the views as we traipsed along the sea-side path chosen by the train. Forty-five fantastic minutes later we arrived in Kalk Bay, a little fishing village on the sea with a famous harbour and a plethora of vintage goodies to be found in stores dotted around the town. Everyone was starving except for Emily, she was feeling a bit sick from the train ride and the prospect of having to leave town soon. Nevertheless she joined me and my friends for lunch at Lucky Fish where we ordered Calamari, Kingklip, and Hake. Emily just had some water.

After a brilliant lunch we walked down to the pier, passing the fishermen and women that were gutting and selling their catches of the day. Luckily Emily had already jumped back in her bag otherwise she wouldn't have looked as good for her photo shoot. The weather was perfect and the pier was packed but we managed to find an empty spot to sit and let lunch settle. After a few minutes Emily got restless and wiggled her way out of her bag, but the sun was a bit bright so she borrowed some sunglasses for her first photo with the Cape Peninsula Mountains as the backdrop. Apparently they suited her because a crazy lady picked her up and put Emily on her head for the next shot. It turns out the lady was very friendly but she was pretending to be a bear for some reason: who would have thought a duck and a bear could be friends?

After having fun in her photo shoot, Emily and her current travel friends got some ice cream then caught the next train back to Cape Town. As it turns out that afternoon was the last day of Summer in Cape Town, Winter hit hard the next day. Emily told me she loved her stay in Cape Town but she thinks it's time to move on. Qho knows where the little travel duck will end up next...

rather long :D But don't you just love it? I do ;)

I'm curious about how Emily's journey will go on.

I've just received an answer if I was allowed to publish the email which was sent with the photo. So hear it is:

Emily is having fun being paraded around Cape Town, so much fun in fact that she doesn't want to leave! She's been looking for an even better photographic moment before embarking on the next leg of her journey. She amazes people with stories about how she got to South Africa, and constantly wishes she could meet more people. Here is a preliminary photo of her before she leaves. But she promises to send a write-up of her time in Cape Town and more photos before her imminent departure.

P.S. Her current travel partner is a photographer, how lucky for her :)

After 8 long months I finally got a picture! =)

I already concidered Emily dead - but then I received the message that she was alive!
So now I have a new picture for you - from Cape Town (South Afrcia)!!!! In the background you can see the Table Mountain which has it's name because of the very flat top of the mountain.

I am soooo happy to know she's alive and doing well. Many many thanks to her companion!
It's so great to read the wonderful mails I receive. You can always hear how happy they are to join the project and have Emily with them.

I was told that Emily is going to a trip to Mexico and beyond. She is having a great time with her companion - who is fortunately a photographer. Thanks again for this awesome picture!

I have to apologize for being so impatient! Emily is alive!!

I have received an e-mail today saying Emily is alive and that I will receive a picture soon =)

I'm so happy that she isn't dead and I want to thank everybody who kept her alive! You're gorgeous!

Hi ... after waiting for so long I have now decided to give up =(
It seems to me that Emily is dead by now ... what ever has happened to her.

I will start a new project soon. Emily's successor is called Debby.

almost 3 months

Hi there...

it's me - the owner of Emily.
It's been a while, actually almost 3 months. I would have loved to write you sooner but unfortunately I haven't received a new picture yet.

I've written an e-mail to the traveller who took Emily to Berlin but haven't received an answer yet.

After this 3 months I'm a bit worried to be honest. So if you know something about Emily's whereabouts PLEASE contact me! I would be so relieved to know everything is alright.

Yeaha =) You won't believe it. Without having any hope I looked in my mails and.... had an email named 'Hello From Emily' =)

I couldn't believe my eyes! I've got a picture!!!! And also I received a wonderful text about my journey =) I'm sooo happy!

That's the original e-mail:

Hello

Attached is a picture of Emily who has found her way to Berlin. Emily joined me while I reunited with a woman after 5 years who I once shared an amazing time with as we fell in love. We were 18 years old then, and now at the age of 24 the feelings still remain as strong as they did before. Unfortunately our time together has come to an end once more as we both must return to our homes in different countries.

Emily has decided to follow me to my home. She is excited to surprise you with one more photo before hopefully meeting another traveler who is as happy to have Emily as I was.

Logging into my mail-account I wasn't expecting anything. Then I looked and couldn't believe my eyes: I had received an email!
I opened it and: SPAM! It was only another annoying spam =( How I do hate that stuff!

Well, just to say hello. After one week, I'm still waiting for a picture. I'm guessing the persons who took me with them are either having a long journey or having some problems with sending them via email... Anyway I'm still feeling confident that I will receive a photo :)

My journey has finally started!!!

Although it lasted an whole hour to find nice people to take me along...

Finally, after my owner started to get frustrated and thought about giving up, we found two women who took me :)

It's so exciting to be on tour...hope my journey will last long and the next persons won't need this long to find somebody to take me.

This picture was taken in Aachen. That's a city in Germany near the borders to the Netherlands and Belgium. It was taken on 27. April 2010.
Unfortunately my journey hasn't started yet because my owner is having some problem fixing the card on my neck... so the family takes me around.

Oh, I forgot to say: The building in the background is the Dome of Aachen as you can see ;)
